I am grateful to have a hobby like knitting. It keeps me busy and warm. It lets me hoard yarn and look forward to several projects.
I started to knit when I was a teenager in the theater. It kept me from being bored to tears back stage. Knitting gave me an easy way to relate to my grandma. Knitting has given me great experiences.
Along with the hats, socks, sweaters, stuffed animals, purses, mitts and other projects, knitting have given me wonderful friends and something fun to talk about. It’s now part of who I am.
If I’m at a party, I get introduced as “This is Manni, she knits.” I am grateful that knitting is cool again. While it has inflated yarn prices, at least I don’t get the crazy looks I used to.
And for that, I am thankful.
